Summer Frosh Tech Workshop

- Students should report to the Student Center. The teacher will meet them there and bring them into the Lab.
To guarantee basic technological literacy among in-coming freshmen, St Ignatius has instituted the Frosh Summer Tech Workshop. The following represent the minimum standard knowledge and skills that we at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory expect all incoming students to know and be able to do. The 8-hour course is offered during SI Summer School, in a morning or afternoon session, lasting two-hours each over four days. All incoming freshmen are strongly encouraged to take this workshop, and it is FREE!
Students should know or be able to:
File Management
- find, open, save, and close local files located on the harddrive;
- find, move, copy, open, and save files stored on a network drive;
- create new folders, and navigate through nested folders; and
- follow standard filename conventions
Network Skills
- identify key features and practices of email etiquette;
- locate and select network printers;
- change printer settings (e.g. duplex, portrait vs landscape printing);
- read and send email through the SI's Outlook Web Access;
- send and receive attachments via SI's Outlook Web Access;
- enter new Tasks and mark Tasks as "completed" on SI's Outlook Web Access;
- enter new Calendar items on SI's Outlook Web Access; and
- register for classes, view assignments, download attachments, post to forums, and take online quizzes in Moodle ("CatLink")

Word
- bold, italicize, and underline text;
